Teaching Listening: Podcasting
Assalamu'alaikum...
As English teacher candidates, we're of course trying to improve our teaching ability, starting from approaches, methods, strategies, techniques, and learning medias. In teaching language. the four skills become the most important aspects, as we want learners to use everything that we have taught them to be applied. Particularly, in teaching listening skill there are a lot of optional ways or medias: songs/musics, videos, podcast, and many others.
A couple weeks ago, I've got a lesson about how to make your own podcast. Also, I've got to do the assignment as well. I'm not sure whether this is a podcast or just an online audio. I've tried to create it; but in the I've just succeed doing this.
This is an audio (I and my group: conversation about culture shock) that have been uploaded through "archive.org" ((you can visit my profile)), then embedded to this blog. How did I do that? >>> click HERE
The Script:
Nila: Hello, guys. Good Morning.
All: Good Morning!
Nila: I'm just curious about.... I just want to ask you about-have you ever had a chat with foreigners or native (English) speakers?
Diyah: Yeah. When I went to Bali last year, I met Mr. Joe. When I told him about my family, surprisingly he asked me "Did my parent live together in the same house?"
Novita: Oh yeah. In other countries, parent might not live together; even if they still have the relation.
Silvy: Mm... It's new information. You know, in education, it reminds me when our lecturer sat on the table while was teaching.
Novita: It's taboo in Indonesia, right? People will see us and that it is impolite.
Diyah. Yea.. I see. the opposite of that, in abroad, teachers are allowed to sit on table.
Silvy: Hmm.. Anyway, today is very hard for me, you know. I get difficult tasks and I haven't finished yet. How about you, Nila?
Nila: Oh my God! Talkin' bout tasks and assignments; this reminds me to Mrs. Kim' assignments, you know? They are.... She gave a lot of tasks that we cannot do. You know, this is very-very... you know, kinds of cultural shock for us. What do you think, Novita?
Novita: Yea. It was so different from our culture, in Indonesia. Here, we can enjoy our tasks and we never get that much tasks.
Silvy: Mm guys, I have a class. So, good bye.
All: bye!
Very well, that's all. I hope this is useful for you (even though I'm not really sure about it. lol). Don't forget to leave your comment below. You can share it if you this is important enough to be read (*sigh). Thanks a lot! See ya!
