Simple Present

Fungsi:

·         Menyatakan fakta atau kebenaran umum

·         Menyatakan kegiatan yang berulang-ulang dan merupakan kebiasaan

·         Menyatakan kecakapan, kemampuan, watak dan sifat seseorang

·         Menyatakan sesuatu yang akan terjadi di masa yang akan datang dimana waktu sudah terjadwal sebelumnya

·         Digunakan pada headline (Judul berita utama) dalam surat kabar atau majalah

·         Pengganti present continuous untuk verb yang tidak bisa digunakan untuk continuous (non-progressive verbs)

Verbal Sentence

Auxiliary:

Do (I, you they, we, plural)

Does (He, she, it, single)

Time Signal:

Every day                            Every night                         Every week

Every month                      Every year                           Every…….

Once a week,                    Twice a year,                      Three times a day

Frequency Adverb:

•       Occur in the middle of a sentence and have special position.

•       The adverbs with the symbol (*) may also occur at the beginning or end of a sentence.

•       Usually come between the subject and verb (exp. for be)

•       Come after be in present or past tense

•       In question, come directly after the subject

•       In negative sentence, most frequency adv come in front of the negative verb (exp. Always & ever)

•       Negative adverbs are not used with a negative verb.

•       Ever is used in questions about frequency. It means “at any time”

•       Ever is also used with “not”

•       Ever is not used in statement.
